Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker Leak Says Killing Palpatine Won’t Be Enough

Star Wars might have been teasing the return of Emperor Palpatine in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, but we're still not quite sure about the extent of Darth Sidious return. Is the Sith Lord going to make a full appearance in the film?

While there are some who believe that Emperor Palpatine is simply going to appear as a hologram in Episode IX, there's a leak making the rounds saying that Darth Sidious is going to return full force, this time even more dangerous and powerful than fans have ever seen him before.

According to an alleged leak for The Rise of Skywalker that's been making the rounds online (via Express), killing Palpatine may not be enough, and there's only one way to make sure that the Sith Lord is destroyed once and for all.
The post describes the climactic battle sequence between Rey (Daisy Ridley), Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) and Palpatine (Ian McDiarmid). In the leak, Palpatine tries to drain energy from both Kylo Ren and Rey to bring forth his full resurrection.

Though the two manage to defeat the Emperor's body, the leak says that Palpatine's spirit will be left free to return and start the whole saga once more. This is where Anakin and Luke Skywalker come in, defeating Palpatine's spirit at the other side.

It's an interesting leak, to say the least. This battle gives all three generations of the Star Wars franchise a meaningful victory, allowing Episode IX to truly become the culmination of the entire Skywalker saga. Of course, there's the possibility that this leak might not be true. Even if the idea of Anakin and Luke defeating Palpatine seems like a pretty decent way to wrap up The Rise of Skywalker, we suggest fans take the report with a grain of salt. Let's just cross our fingers, and wait and see.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker premieres December 20, 2019.
