Daisy Ridley's Rey might be the hero of Lucasfilm's new Star Wars sequel trilogy, but even the powerful, Force-sensitive Jakku orphan of The Force Awakens has her own flaws and weaknesses.
Speaking in an interview with Comicbook at a media junket for Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Ridley was asked about what she thought were Rey's biggest flaws, and according to the British actress, the character doesn't really have a flaw, but some sort of "room for growth."
"I don't think she has a flaw. I don't think of people in terms of flaws," said Ridley. "I was actually having this discussion with my dad, because I was like, you know, people go to the hairdresser to get their hair done, people go to the gym to get their bodies done. You can always work on your stuff, just if you can't see it. You can work on jealousy or anger or whatever it is. So I don't think that's a flaw, I think it's room for growth."
Ridley then points out the areas where Rey can grow, saying that the character's stubbornness and willfulness help her a lot in Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
"And I think anything that might be the thing that people go *scoffs* with kids if they're stubborn, if they're willful, serves her very well in this film. So I don't think that's a flaw," Ridley said
It's an age-old story – where there's a will, there's a way, you succeed if you just try hard enough – and we wonder where Rey's persistence will get her in The Last Jedi.
