Star Wars Sequel Trilogy Plot Holes Could Be Fixed Through New Anime Series

Disney's Star Wars sequel trilogy might have enjoyed significant commercial success, however, films like Star Wars: The Last Jedi and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker have received mixed reviews from fans. While some enjoy the breadth and depth of the story offered in Rian Johnson's entry in the trilogy, traditional fans couldn't quite take the changes the film made, especially to characters like Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill). While some enjoyed The Rise of Skywalker, many others found contention in the film's poor storytelling elements. Star Wars The Force Awakens received critical reviews as well, with some fans bashing the film for taking too many cues from Star Wars: A New Hope.

While it's obvious that Star Wars fans all have different opinions about Disney's sequel trilogy, many believe that Lucasfilm can help balm the wounds of the franchise with future projects.

According to CBR, that includes anime.

Star Wars has had a lot of success with the Clone Wars animated series. Sure, the show might have had a rocky start, but now it's become one of the most beloved series in the franchise. The Clone Wars filled out many of the holes that were left by the prequel trilogy, picking up the slack from Lucasfilm's previous set of films.

CBR believes that Lucasfilm could create a new series telling stories about Rey, Finn, Poe, and Kylo Ren. Using anime, Disney could tell stories about these characters and flesh them out even further, filling plot holes created by the sequel movies like The Rise of Skywalker.

What do you think? Would a Star Wars anime series help fill in the holes left by Episode IX? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section below.
