Star Wars Reveals Rey’s Humongous Training Partner

Star Wars fans might have fallen in love with Rey (Daisy Ridley) ever since she was introduced to the galaxy far, far away in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, however, one of the biggest issues that critics had with the Jakku Orphan was the skill that she possessed as a Force user despite the lack of training.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi might have tried to resolve the issue by having Luke (Mark Hamill) train Rey, however, the film ended with the heroine leaving without completing her training. Now, it looks like Star Wars has decided to feature Rey continuing her training so that she can succeed in Luke's role as the galaxy's only hope.

Journey to Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker – Allegiance #1 serves as a prequel to Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and in the comic fans get to see who Rey's been training with to prepare for the big battle against Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) and the First Order. Though there have been rumors going around saying that Rey's going to be seen training with Leia (the late Carrie Fisher) in Episode IX, in the comic the Jakku Orphan is seen training with a giant monster instead.

Heading to the pits of Anoat, a garbage planet where pollution runs so thick, Rey trains together with a monster that has a unique link to the Force. Rey is seen wielding an upgraded staff as she battles the pit beast, opting against using her lightsaber so she can practice using the Force to take the monster down.

We wonder if we'll get to see more of Rey training in Episode IX.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker premieres December 20, 2019.
