Star Wars' Mace Windu May Return From The Dead

There have been a lot of questions about potential surprises in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Not only has Lucasfilm promised Mark Hamill's return as Luke Skywalker, but the studio has also teased Emperor Palpatine's (Ian McDiarmid) appearance in Episode IX.

Now, fans are wondering whether Palpatine's return could mean the survival of another fan-favorite Star Wars character – Samuel L. Jackson's violet lightsaber-wielding Jedi, Mace Windu. Sure, it might be hard to imagine Mace staying alive even after being thrown out of a high window (and after having his arm chopped off and getting struck by Force lightning to boot), but a new theory on Reddit suggests otherwise.

According to Redditor u/Shahkabra, it's possible that Mace Windu actually survived his fate Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith. The Star Wars fan's post on Reddit takes a look at other characters surviving deadly incidents in the franchise, and then claims that none of these injuries could have actually been fatal to a Jedi Knight of the same level as Mace Windu.

Sure, Star Wars characters often survive losing limbs like Darth Maul. But what about getting tossed out of high places? If Palpatine physically returns in The Rise of Skywalker, then this might actually open the door to Mace Windu's return.

This shouldn't really be that hard for Lucasfilm. Jackson did say that he would want to play Mace Windu at least one more time in the Star Wars franchise.
