This weekend, YouTuber Republicattak posted a teary-eyed video revealing that his home had been broken into and that his entire Lego collection worth thousands of dollars had been stolen by thieves. The YouTube celebrity is a well-known Lego collector focused on Star Wars set, and for years he's been collecting and creating videos for his 12,000 subscribers.

Taking to YouTube to post a video titled "bye," the distressed Republicattak said that he would give up on creating videos for his channel after all his Legos were taken in the robbery. It took the collector more than fourteen years to gather the sets he once had, and he lost it all in one night. The robbers had focused their attack on Republicattack's $18,000 collection – none of his other valuables including his Macbook were taken from his home.

"I don't know what I'm going to do," the collector says holding back tears in the video. "It really was my passion... that's the end of this channel."

The heartbreaking post made its way to Reddit and there Redditors started to offer their help, saying that they'd be glad to donate their own sets to help Republicattack rebuild his own. Others also started calling on the Lego company itself to make a few donations of their own – after all, Republicattack had been one of their most loyal collectors. One even created a GoFundMe page to help campaign for the collector and the funding campaign immediately reached the beyond the $1000 goal in just nine days, coming up to $18,350.

Republicattak has been nothing but grateful over the response he received from strangers online.

It just goes to show that the internet can actually be a kind place every now and then.
