Star Wars Legend Mark Hamill Reveals Luke Skywalker’s Meal in Dagobah in ESB

Mark Hamill has always been active on social media. Not only does the Star Wars legend engage in political and social discussions, but he also shares a lot of behind-the-scenes anecdotes and tidbits from the original Star Wars trilogy.

Last weekend, Hamill decided to engage with fans, responding to a follower who wanted to know what Luke Skywalker ate in a particular scene in the swamps of Dagobah Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back.

"I always wanted to know what they gave you here to eat," a Star Wars fan asked the legend on Twitter, "It looks like a taquito."

Of course, Hamill didn't hesitate to reply, revealing how he had been given sesame breadstick and tic tacs for the sequence.

"It was just a sesame breadstick," the Star Wars actor said, "There were also Tic Tacs in that box. I'm not joking. TIC TACS."

It's a bit of a surprise that George Lucas didn't really create some special food for Luke in the movie. The Empire Strikes Back had a larger budget than the first Star Wars movie (18 million dollars and 11 million dollars respectively), and A New Hope had food specialties like Blue Milk.

It seems like Lucas used most of that money for special effects because the food wasn't really a priority in the movie. Star Wars fans don't really mind though. The original trilogy was still considerably low budget back then. Lucasfilm had to save when it could.

The Skywalker saga is available for streaming on Disney+.
