Star Wars Legend Mark Hamill Gave A Dying Child His Biggest Wish

Mark Hamill might be a hermit of a Jedi in Star Wars: The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi, but in real life, the Star Wars legend seems to be a pretty great guy.

Not only is Hamill a funny little troll that makes fun of the Star Wars fanbase by feeding the crazy fan theorists and speculators with "hints" and "ideas" about what might happen in upcoming Star Wars movies, he's also very kind.

Taking to Twitter, Men in Black screenwriter Ed Solomon decided to share a story where Hamill visited one of his friend's terminally ill son even though he had never met the family before. Apparently the child was a huge Star Wars fan, and he really wanted to meet Luke Skywalker before passing away from an incurable disease. Being the only film person his friend knew, Solomon went on to call Hamill's agent, explaining that "this lovely boy (who) watched Star Wars everyday wanted to meet NOT Mark Hamill, but the actual CHARACTER that he played."

90 seconds after the call, Hamill called back himself, saying that he'd visit the child. Not only did he meet the boy, but he also spent hours and hours answering the child's questions as Luke Skywalker.

Busy as he is, the Star Wars legend didn't have to visit the boy, but he did anyway, and his kindness and compassion really touched the child and his family. Solomon's story about Hamill really reminds us that there's a lot of good in the Star Wars franchise.

Hamill is set to reprise his role in Star Wars: The Last Jedi on December 15, 2017.
