Now that Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is fast approaching its release date, we're learning a little bit more about the videogame's style and gameplay.

Though the upcoming Star Wars action-adventure game has been likened to Dead Souls, Jason de Heras, Fallen Order's lead combat designer, says that the film plays a bit more like Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice than From Software's 2011 action role-playing game.

Speaking in an interview with Edge magazine (via ComicBook.com), de Heras talks about Fallen Order's gameplay, saying that the videogame is going to focus a lot on defensive moves like parrying and blocking. Though the game won't be as challenging as Dark Souls, the combat designer says that Fallen Order will have a stamina bar and will allow more agency for the player.

"I thought it was pretty badass, and a little comforting to know that you could make this type of game without a stamina bar," de Heras explained during the interview, "They let you attack, they let you roll, they do all this for free – and then the AI will tell you if you're doing the correct thing. It just confirmed to us that you don't have to limit everything the player does; let them have a little more agency, and then let the AI give them a slap on the wrist or a punch in the face. It was a positive thing for us to know there was a game that was similar to ours. Very similar."

It's interesting to hear de Heras compare Fallen Order to Sekiro. For those who aren't that familiar with the game, Shadows Die Twice is an action-adventure videogame which focuses on stealth, exploration, and combat. There's also a big emphasis on boss battles.

Respawn Entertainment usually churns out first-person shooter games, so to hear the developer working on an action-adventure game that emphasizes hand-to-hand combat is nothing short of interesting.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is set for release on PS4, Xbox One, and PC on November 15.
