Star Wars' ‘J.J. Abrams is Over Party’ has Become a Trend on Twitter

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker has yet to premiere, and yet Star Wars trolls have begun to come out of the wood work, bombing the film's promotional tweets and calling out on Episode IX director, J.J. Abrams.

Star Wars fans have made the "JJ Abrams Is Over Party" hashtag virla on Twitter – a response to the mixed reactions that critics have been sharing after The Rise of Skywalker's global premiere. Fans aren't happy hearing about the negative reactions to Episode IX, and now they're expecting Abrams' downfall.

It comes as a surprise that fans have begun reacting this way to The Rise of Skywalker. The film hasn't even made its official premiere, and yet, everyone seems to be riding on the divisive reviews for the upcoming sequel trilogy entry. Shouldn't fans wait to see the movie for themselves before responding to Episode IX?

Still, the fanbase must be feeling wary over The Rise of Skywalker. The film's predecessor, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, was met with sparkling reviews from critics when it premiere back in 2017, and yet, the film became one of the most divisive entries in the Star Wars franchise. Episode IX on the other hand, seems to have been met with mixed reviews from critics on the onset of its release. That doesn't seem like a very good sign for the movie.

Let's just hope that The Rise of Skywalker proves to be a hit when everyone finally sees it this Friday.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker premieres December 20, 2019.
