Star Wars: Episode IX’s Title Will Reportedly Pay Tribute To Leia

There's been very little Star Wars: Episode IX news to keep fans going, however, a new rumor has been making the rounds online saying that the title of Lucasfilm's third and final sequel trilogy installment is going to go full circle around the Skywalker saga.

According to a report by We Got This Covered, a rumor which is being claimed as a marketing leak suggests that the title for Episode IX would not only connect to Star Wars: A New Hope, it would also pay tribute to Star Wars legend Carrie Fisher.

Word on the street has it that Episode IX would be named Star Wars: The Only Hope, a reference to Princess Leia's iconic line from A New Hope, "Help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi. You're my only hope."

If the rumor is proven to be true, then the title would be a touching tribute to Star Wars' Princess of Alderaan. Many hearts broke when Fisher passed away in December of 2016 last year.

While the Star Wars legend passed before she could finish her scenes for Episode IX, Lucasfilm is still bringing General Organa back to the big screen, making use of untouched footage from Star Wars: The Last Jedi and Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

There's been a lot of talk about how Episode IX will try to bring Leia's story to a close. In a previous interview, The Last Jedi star Oscar Isaac talked about his work with Fisher, saying that it was only right for Lucasfilm to bring back Leia for Episode IX.

Star Wars: Episode IX premieres December 20, 2019.
