Star Wars: Episode IX’s Sith Troopers Make Major Splash At SDCC 2019

The panel for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker may not yet be scheduled to arrive at this year's San Diego Comic-Con International today, but it looks like Lucasfilm's already catching attention at the convention with its new stormtrooper exhibit which also features big-as-life Sith Trooper.

The Sith Trooper was announced earlier this week and now it looks like the new type of stormtrooper has become the talk of the town at the 2019 SDCC.

Speaking in an interview in the exhibit's video (via StarWars.com), The Rise of Skywalker director J.J. Abrams gives fans more info about the Sith Trooper, explaining how the trooper ended up being in the third and final Star Wars movie.

"The materials, the color, the lines, there was something about the aesthetic of it that just felt absolutely right," the director explained in the video... "I cannot wait for people to see the work that everyone's done."

The exhibit for the Sith Trooper even has its very own mini-documentary to go along with it. Unfortunately, it's only meant for the SDCC floor and probably won't be making its way online.

Still, we can't help but be excited for the Sith Trooper's introduction in The Rise of Skywalker as well. We can only wonder whether the troopers are going to have a major role in the film, or whether we'll only see them in passing. Also, are the sith troopers connected at all to the Sith? And if so, in what way?

Let's wait for the answers together.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker premieres December 20, 2019.
