Star Wars: Episode IX’s Mark Hamill Disguises Himself As Stormtrooper For Charity

Luke Skywalker might have turned into a jaded and troubled old hermit in Lucasfilm's sequel trilogy, but in real life, Mark Hamill continues to play the part of a benevolent hero. Dressing up as a stormtrooper, the Star Wars legend decided to lend a hand to the Force For Change, even though he's technically a bit too short for the role.

A Star Wars fan present during Hamill's little stint with the Star Wars-themed nonprofit decided to share a video of the actor's gig as a stormtrooper on Twitter. Retweeting the post, the Star Wars legend decided to add a few details about his disguise.

"I did this for the 'Force For Change' charity- a really great cause," Hamill said. "The best part was spending all day talking to people who had no idea who I was. I was tempted to unmask at times, like when that woman said her favorite actor was Mark Hamilton!"

It's lovely how much seeing Hamill go around in disguise for charity. We wonder whether any of the fans that he met while dressed as a stormtrooper had an inkling of who he was. The video's pretty fun to watch too – Hamill's full of antics, which isn't a surprise considering how much a joker the actor is (yes, pun intended).

Right now, Hamill is set to reprise his role as Luke Skywalker in Star Wars: Episode IX. However, it remains unclear whether the actor will be seen in visions, flashbacks, or physical scenes as a Force Ghost.

Star Wars: Episode IX premieres December 20, 2019.
