Star Wars: Episode IX To Reportedly Feature A Force Battle Between Luke And Darth Vader

Star Wars: The Last Jedi might have been a commercial and critical success for Lucasfilm, however, some Star Wars fans didn't sit too well with the movie, most of them protesting against the Force Awakens sequel's rendition of Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill).

Fans wanted to see Luke like the benevolent and hopeful Jedi they had come to love in the original Star Wars trilogy, however, the film turned Luke into a jaded version of himself instead. Haunted by the guilt of turning his nephew to the Dark Side, Luke decided to hide away in the watery planet of Ahch-To.

Luckily, now that Episode IX is on its way, rumors have started circulating saying that fans are going to get to see Luke returning to form, doing larger, more epic scenes that would definitely wow the fanbase.

Last week, these rumors about Luke said that the Jedi Master would bring down an entire Star Destroyer. This week, Cosmic Book News reveals two new possible scenes for Episode IX.

In one scene, Rey (Daisy Ridley) and Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) find themselves in a jungle scene where Luke finds himself in a lightsaber duel with Darth Vader.

Meanwhile, the other scene has Luke transforming from his younger self to the old hermit we got to see in TLJ – a possible confirmation that Luke is to return as a Force Ghost.

Both sequences sound rather interesting. The second scene also seems very likely considering the fact that the only way Episode IX could bring back Luke is to either turn him into a Force Ghost or to make use of flashbacks.

However, fans should be advised to take this new report with a grain of salt. Without any confirmation from Lucasfilm, the rumor remains a rumor.

Star Wars: Episode IX is set to release December 20, 2019.
