Star Wars: Episode IX Theory Tries To Explain Why Kylo Ren Killed Han Solo

Star Wars fans were devastated when they saw Han Solo (Harrison Ford) being killed by his only son in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Many were hoping to see Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) return to the light, but the Forces of Darkness somehow managed to sway Leia's (Carrie Fisher) estranged son into killing his father to prove his allegiance to Snoke (Andy Serkis) and the Dark Side.

Later on, thanks to TFA's accompanying novel and to Star Wars: The Last Jedi, fans come to learn how conflicted Kylo Ren was killing his own father. Now, a new Star Wars fan theory tries to explain why Ben Solo was forced to kill Han, putting the blame on Snoke and on Emperor Palpatine.

According to this new Star Wars theory on Reddit, Kylo Ren had no other option but to kill his father in The Force Awakens.

"Kylo Ren knows Palpatine is still around and falls to the Dark Side in order to get close enough to him (and Snoke) so he can kill both," the theory tries to explain,"...He has to do whatever he can to prove his devotion to the Dark Side until the moment comes that he can take out Palpatine."

This theory tries to fit in Palpatine's potential appearance in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. The teaser for the film hinted at the Emperor's return, the video closing out with Darth Sidious' cackle. Palpatine's presence came as quite a surprise – no one was expecting to hear the Emperor in the teaser for Episode IX.

What do you think of this new fan theory? Do you think Kylo Ren really killed Han to get to Palpatine? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section below.
