Star Wars: Episode IX Theory Suggests Rey’s Parents Might Be An Unexpected Reveal

Star Wars: The Last Jedi may have revealed Rey (Daisy Ridley) as the daughter of a couple of Jakku nobodies, but fans are still hoping that the Jakku orphan might find the truth behind her origin. While most are hoping that Star Wars might reveal Rey as the franchise's the chosen one (or at least the son of the chosen one) there are theories suggesting that the Jakku orphan may have been abandoned by a close and familiar character after all.

According to a theory by Making Star Wars, there's a pretty good chance that Rey may actually be connected to those who were piloting the ship that we get to see in a few sequences in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

In the film, we get to see a younger version of Rey being left on Jakku while a ship flies off in the distance. Though some have hoped that this would turn out to be either Han Solo (Harrison Ford) or Luke Skywalker, a new theory suggests that it might be that new character we're supposed to see in Star Wars: Episode IX – Zorri Bliss.

Played by Keri Russell, Zori Bliss is a scoundrel character that many believe to be a bounty hunter or a mercenary working for Kylo Ren (Adam Driver). If the ship really does belong to Bliss, revealing the scoundrel to be Rey's mother, then we'd certainly have an interesting origin story in our hands which shows that you don't necessarily have to be tied to a legacy parent to become a great person.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker premieres December 20, 2019.
