Star Wars: Episode IX May Feature Hundreds Of Sith Troopers

Star Wars might be expecting to see at least a handful of Sith Troopers in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker but it looks like the film could feature hundreds of the red armored troopers in the First Order's battalion.

According to Screen Rant, Lucasfilm just recently shared a picture of a t-shirt for Episode IX on the official Star Wars site. The shirt has since been deleted from the site, but according to the entertainment news site, the design features Sith troopers together with the First Order's battalion.

It might not mean much to Star Wars fans, but the inclusion of the Sith troopers in the battalion suggests that we're going to see quite a number of the red armored troopers in Episode IX. In Star Wars, battalions are large military units of ground troops. They can have multiple companies as well. Battalions like those in Stormtrooper Corps usually have four companies, making for a total of 800 troopers.

Battalions don't appear that often in the Skywalker saga, but they have appeared in Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith. They've also appeared in the novelization of Star Wars: The Last Jedi as well as the prequel novel for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

If the image used in the t-shirt was taken from a scene in The Rise of Skywalker, then that means we'll be getting hundreds of Sith Troopers in the film. We can only wonder though if we're going to see the Sith Troopers in action.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker premieres December 20, 2019.
