Star Wars Book Details Reveal How Luke Can Help The Resistance In Episode IX

While Lucasfilm hasn't confirmed how they'd bring back Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, most fans speculate that the Jedi Master may very well appear as a Force Ghost in the film much like Yoda did in Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

Now, it looks like a new canon Star Wars book reveals a few important details that may have major implications for Star Wars: Episode IX. The book The Secrets of the Jedi details the history of the Jedi Order from Luke's perspective, and in it, readers get to learn more about Force Ghosts.

Luke talks about how he leaned about the Jedi ability to become a Force Ghost after death, how the Force Ghost is directly connected to the Force.

"That knowledge was passed down to a select few, including Obi-Wan, Yoda, and my father. Their spirits guided me for many years but vanished when I shut myself off from the Force. It's a relief to feel their presence after all this time," Luke writes in the book.

This passage implies that Luke had actually been in contact with his father, Yoda, and Obi-Wan throughout his years as a Jedi Master.

What could have Luke have learned from Anakin about Palpatine and about the Empire? We're pretty sure that Anakin would have a lot to share with Luke. Could he pass on the same knowledge to Rey when he appears in The Rise of Skywalker? The information would definitely be helpful, especially if Palpatine were really to physically return in the film.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker premieres December 20, 2019.
