Star Trek Picard Series Officially Begins Filming Today

It looks like CBS All Access is finally getting down to work on the Star Trek series focused on Sir Patrick Stewart's Jean Luc Picard.

According to a report by CBR, principal photography on the Jean Luc Picard Star Wars series is officially beginning today. Production is expected to last the next five months with a tentative wrap date for principal photography set for September 16 this year. However, unlike CBS All Access series Star Trek: Discovery by Bryan Fuller and Alex Kurtzman which is currently filming in Toronto, the Picard Star Trek series is being taken for production in Los Angeles.

Star Trek fans are very much looking forward to the new Jean Luc Picard Star Trek show. Trekkies were taken by surprise when Stewart announced the series last summer, celebrating the actor's reprisal of the iconic role. This is going to be the first time that we get to see the X-Men star as Picard again. The last time that we saw Stewart take on the role was in Star Trek: Nemesis in 2002 with the series taking place almost two decades after the events of the film.

Now, Picard has a new show, one which will feature the Star Fleet Captain in a new phase of his life. The series is set to take place 20 years after Star Trek: The Next Generation's end sometime around 2399, putting the show further in the future than any other Star Trek iseries.

The series doesn't have a release date yet but we'll update everyone as soon as we get word.
