There's been a lot of discussion over the broken Spider-Man deal between Sony and Disney. Marvel fans have been nothing but heartbroken, taking to social media to mourn Spider-Man's (Tom Holland) forced exit from the Marvel Cinematic Universe and then launching their own event asking everyone to "storm" Sony's offices to save Spider-Man.
While most seem to put the blame on Sony, Stan Lee's daughter, JC Lee, seems to take Sony's side in this dispute between studios.
TMZ just recently asked JC Lee to comment on the entire ordeal between Sony and Disney, and according to the daughter of the late Marvel comic book legend, Sony was probably in the right in the dispute. Not only that, but Lee also couldn't help but complain about Marvel and Disney about how the companies treated her father.
According to Lee, it's good to have Sony around so that her father's characters like Spider-Man can be "checked and balanced."
"Marvel and Disney seeking total control of my father's creations must be checked and balanced by others who, while still seeking to profit, have genuine respect for Stan Lee and his legacy," Lee told the entertainment news outlet.
JC Lee explains that she can't help but fail a bit negatively towards Disney and towards Marvel because when her father died, no one from the two companies really reached out to her. They were only really interested in commoditizing Stan Lee's work.
"In the end, no one could have treated my father worse than Marvel and Disney's executives," JC Lee complained.
This might come as a bit of surprise to Marvel fans knowing how happy Stan the Man was to be in Marvel conventions and seeing how many different cameos he had in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Maybe JC Lee's issue is with how Marvel deals with her father's compensation.
Spider-Man: Far From Home is expected to receive its digital release sometime in October 2019.
