Marvel fans have had so much heartbreak this week. Marvel comic book legend and cameo king Stan Lee passed away at the age of 95 back on Monday morning, leaving the entirety of Hollywood mourning.
Now, a recently released video shows just how highly Lee thought of his fanbase. Posted on Lee's verified Twitter account, a new video shows a person off camera commenting on how much Lee's fans love the comic legend and his sense of humor. Responding openly, Lee shares the feelings he has for his fans and the special relationship that he has with all of them.
"Well, it's an equal love — a love fest. Because I love my fans," the pop culture icon said. "I cannot tell you how much I love my fans. They... sometimes at night I'm sitting here and I'm thinking, "Ah, what's it all about?" You know... and then I get a letter from a fan or I read something or I see something, or I remember something, and I realize: It's so lucky to have fans, fans who really care about you. And that's the reason I care so much about the fans."
According to Lee, his fans help give him meaning and he feels wonderful knowing that he has fans who genuinely care about his well-being.
"Because they just — they may me feel so great. And there's something, if you think about it, that is so wonderful about somebody caring about you as I care about them," Lee continued. "Whom you've never met. Who may live in another part of the world. But they care, and you have something in common. And occasionally you contact each other. And this business of fans I think is terrific. And I love 'em all."
Not only was Lee responsible for the creation of many iconic comic book characters like Iron Man and Spider-Man, but he was also a genuinely kind man known for his friendliness towards fans. Everyone knew him for his humor and for his benevolence. Lee loved interacting with his supporters, and fans have so many great stories about the moments they shared with Lee.
Now, there's been nothing but heartache in the wake of the Marvel legend's passing. Hopefully, this new video of Lee declaring his love for his fanbase will help put a smile on everyone's face today.
