Spider-Man: Far From Home Creates Issues In Marvel’s MCU Timeline

Warning: This article contains spoilers for Spider-Man: Far From Home.

Spider-Man: Far From Home may have been another major success for Marvel Studios with fans praising the film for its style and unpredictability, but the film's also caused some major problems for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

According to Screen Rant, Marvel's Homecoming sequel actually created a continuity error for the MCU while trying to explain the effects of the Snappening. In the film, we get to see Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal) trying to offer Peter Parker (Tom Holland) a beer after a successful battle against an elemental. The young Marvel hero turns Quentin Beck down, explaining that he can't have any sort of liquor because he's only 16.

While this doesn't seem like a problem at first, Marvel fans should remember that Peter Parker was 15 when he was introduced during the events of Captain America: Civil War. A lot happened after that film – there was Spider-Man: Homecoming, Avengers: Infinity War, and then Avengers: Endgame.

Even with the Snappening and the Blip, a year's difference between the Civil War and Far From Home seems way too short compared to the events that have happened on the big screen. While the error might not seem as problematic as the "Eight Years Later" time jump in Far From Home, fans have to wonder how Marvel could let a mistake like this past them especially when continuity errors make it hard for fans to make sense of the MCU.

Oh well. Hopefully, Marvel will rectify this in the future.

Spider-Man: Far From Home is currently screening in cinemas.
