Spawn Creator Todd McFarlane Reveals New Information About The Reboot

The Spawn reboot might have spent a few decades plowing through development limbo, but the past few months Spawn creator Todd McFarlane's finally been able to get the gears rolling, convincing Blumhouse Productions to back up the project and nabbing A-list movie stars like Jamie Fox to play the titular character and Marvel's Jeremy Renner to play detective Maximilian "Twitch Williams."

Now, as fans wait for production to begin principal photography, McFarlane gives us a few details about the upcoming Spawn reboot.

Celebrating the release of Venom on home video, McFarlane, the co-creator of both Eddie Brock and Venom, decided to head over to Reddit for an "Ask Me Anything" session with fans. While the comic book writer focused most of his attention on Venom and the history of the Symbiote, McFarlane also gave fans a few tidbits about his upcoming Spawn movie.

According to the comic book creator, while Spawn is going to be a reboot, fans shouldn't really expect it to feature an origin story.

"It eats way tie to do cool stuff," McFarlane wrote on Reddit. While it's not clear what kind of Spawn stories the movie might tell, it's interesting to know that McFarlane is foregoing the origin.

The comic book writer also confirmed characters that would be absent from the film. This includes Twitch's NYPD partner Sam Burke, as well as the villain Violator.

While these tidbits might not be enough to give a full picture of what McFarlane has planned for the reboot, we can't wait and see what the comic book writer plans to do.

Spawn has yet to receive a release date but we'll update as soon as we get word.
