Shazam! To Reportedly Include Superman Cameo

For the past few months, word might have established that Shazam! wouldn't feature the DC Extended Universe's Man of Steel in any way or for. But now, a new rumor suggests that Superman might actually have a little cameo in Billy Batson's (Asher Angel) upcoming standalone movie, without the help of Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice star, Henry Cavill.

According to a new report by We Got This Covered, Superman just might get a cameo at the very end of Shazam! during the film's final sequence. In the closing scene, DC fans are going to get to see Freddy Freeman (Jack Dylan) trying to convince Billy Batson to transform into Shazam (Zachary Levi) and appear in their high school to help impress their friends. But Shazam isn't the only person Billy brings to school. As a bonus, Billy manages to drag with him the Son of Krypton to help impress Freddy's friends at school.

However, fans won't really get to see Superman's face, just a body double in blue, red and yellow.

It might sound disappointing that Shazam! director David Sandberg and his team won't be getting Cavill for the cameo, but we're hoping that this appearance will lead to bigger thing in the DCEU. Perhaps we'll get another movie where the two partner together – though it seems rather unlikely now considering the fact that Cavill has yet to sort out his future with Warner Brothers and the DCEU.

After Ben Affleck's decision to retire as the DCEU's Batman, new reports say the Superman actor might be planning to leave the franchise as well. Let's just wait and see.

Shazam! makes its big premiere on April 5, 2019.
