Samuel L. Jackson Says Nick Fury Should Have Appeared In Captain America: Civil War

Samuel L. Jackson's had a pretty long run in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. First appearing in 2008's Iron Man, the popular Hollywood actor's played the former S.H.I.E.L.D. director for Marvel for more than a decade, bringing together the Avengers and helping the team in the sidelines.

While Nick Fury has become a Marvel staple, Jackson can't be in every Marvel movie, and the actor's missed out on some of the most significant installments in the franchise. Speaking in an interview with the guys over at the Happy Sad Confused podcast to help promote his upcoming film, Captain Marvel, Jackson was asked whether he thought Marvel made good use of his character in the franchise seeing how sporadically the character appears in the MCU.

While Jackson says his characters been used well, he does admit that the studio wasted Fury's potential to appear in Captain America: Civil War.

"There's lots of stuff you can do with him. But has he been used wisely? Yeah, except for things like Civil War," Jackson said, "It's like, if all the Avengers are f**king fighting each other, where is their guardian? Where's that dude who comes in and goes, 'Alright, everybody go to your room. I'll be in there to talk to you in a minute.' Either he's the guy that brought them together and he's the glue, or he's not. I felt a little- I felt a way about that."

Right now it's unclear whether or not Jackson is going to make his way back as Nick Fury for Avengers: Endgame. While the S.H.I.E.L.D. operative did appear in the end credits scene for Avengers: Infinity War, Jackson has suggested that he might not make it to the sequel, saying that he hasn't even read the script for Endgame. Then again, Fury's going to have a pretty busy year with Captain Marvel and Spider-Man: Homecoming.
