Robert Downey Jr. Reportedly To Return As Iron Man In New Disney+ Series

Marvel fans might not expect Iron Man to appear again in the Marvel Cinematic Universe after sacrificing his life to save the universe from Thanos and his army in Avengers: Endgame, but word on the street says that Robert Downey Jr. may return to reprise his role in one of Marvel's many different mini-series for Disney+.

According to a report by We Got This Covered, a source claims that Downey Jr. is actually set to return to the MCU in a brand new series for Disney's highly anticipated streaming platform. The source says that Marvel is currently preparing to announce a new show based on the Ironheart comics, a series where a teenage genius continues the legacy that Tony Stark made in the Marvel universe.

Unfortunately, RDJ isn't going to take on a physical return. Instead, the Marvel star is set to return in a voiceover role much like what Paul Bettany did for JARVIS.

While we would advise fans to take the report with a large grain of salt, we wouldn't be surprised to see RDJ making a voice cameo in an Ironheart series. In the comics, Riri Williams, otherwise known as Ironheart, finds herself continuing Tony Stark's legacy after finding the Marvel hero in a comic. Ironheart trains together with her AI, voiced of course, by Stark.

Of course, we have to wait for confirmation from Marvel, but it would definitely be exciting to have RDJ take on a voice cameo for Disney+. Iron Man has played such a major role in building the MCU.

Avengers: Endgame is available on Digital HD, Blu-Ray, and DVD.
