Robert Downey Jr. Reportedly Signed Back in MCU for Ironheart Series

Robert Downey Jr. is back in the rumor mill again.

According to a new report that's surfaced on Instagram, Marvel is thinking of bringing back Robert Downey Jr. for a brand new live-action series for Disney+. The Avengers: Endgame actor has reportedly signed a new contract with Marvel Studios, this time for a Disney+ Ironheart series. RDJ is reportedly set to provide the voice of an AI for Ironheart, the same way that Paul Bettany voiced JARVIS in Iron Man, Iron Man 2, and Avengers: Age of Ultron.

While we always believed that Marvel wouldn't be bringing back RDJ after the sacrifice that Iron Man made in Endgame, turning RDJ into an AI voice actor bypasses Tony Stark's death and allows Iron Man to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe without actually resurrecting the character.

Marvel may want to bring RDJ back into the MCU to add star power to its rumored Ironheart series for Disney+.

Of course, as exciting as this report might be, we advise fans to take everything with a major grain of salt. A few months back there were rumors that Iron Man would appear in Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow movie and in January Downey Jr. decided to address those rumors, revealing that the reports were nothing but hogwash.

This new report about RDJ voicing AI in an Ironheart live-action series could end up being the same. Let's just wait for Marvel to confirm the reports.

Phase 4 of the MCU begins when Black Widow premieres later this year.
