Quentin Tarantino Says Thor: Ragnarok Is His Favorite Marvel Movie

There's been a lot of great Marvel entries the past few years. Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, Black Panther,Spider-Man: Homecoming and Thor: Ragnarok – most of Marvel's latest Phase 3 installments have received their fair share of critical success.

However, independent movie director Quentin Tarantino has only one favorite Marvel movie out of the bunch, and that's Thor: Ragnarok. Speaking in an interview with Empire Magazine (via ComicBook.com), the Hateful Eight and Pulp Fiction director was asked about his upcoming film, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. During the discussion, somehow the Marvel Cinematic Universe was brought up and Tarantino had to explain that he's been trying to catch up with the rest of the franchise so that he can finally get to see Endgame.

Though the director admits that he hasn't been able to catch up with the MCU in its proper order, Tarantino reveals that Ragnarok has been his personal favorite ever since the release of Avengers in 2012.

"I haven't been keeping up to date with them for, I guess, the last four years," Tarantino said. "I think the only comic book movies I saw last year at theaters were Wonder Woman and Black Panther. But about a couple of weeks ago I started catching up with some of the Marvel movies so I could go see Endgame. I just finished Captain America: Civil War, so next up is Doctor Strange."

"Actually, the last one I saw was [Thor] Ragnarok. I loved it," the filmmaker added, "It was my favourite one of the series since The Avengers - drastically my favorite."

Of course, it makes sense that Tarantino would respond more to Ragnarok than to any other film in the franchise. The third Thor standalone movie has a different feel to it. Unlike most comic book movies, Ragnarok has a different sort of flavor – all because of the directorship of indie darling, Taika Waititi.

Known for his humor, Waititi brings in off-beat dialogue and indie humor to the film – something that Tarantino is very familiar with.
