Prince Harry And William Were Cut From The Last Jedi Because They Were “Too Tall”
It might sound odd, but Prince William and Prince Harry’s cameo in Star Wars: The Last Jedi was cut from the final edit because they were just too tall to play stormtroopers in Lucasfilm’s latest sequel trilogy installment.
There were rumors last year that Prince William and Prince Harry were going to appear in The Force Awakens sequel after the British Royals visited the film’s set at London’s Pinewood Studios. Star Wars actor John Boyega confirmed the reports before the premiere of the film, saying that he had apologized to Prince William after he found out that the Royals were cut out of the film.
According to a new report by the Daily Mail, insiders say that the biggest reason the brothers were taken out of the film was because of their height. Apparently Prince Harry and Prince William were just too tall to cameo as stormtroopers in The Last Jedi. Harry stands at 6 ft 1 in while William comes up at 6 ft and 2 in.
‘Stormtroopers have to be exactly 5ft 11in. At the time we shot it I think the feeling was that the scene would make the final movie,” says the publication’s source.
‘Everyone feels bad that William and Harry lost out on their big moment. However, the scene just didn’t work for the final cut so it was left out.’
Guess being tall has its cons. Such a shame that the Royal Brothers had to miss out being in The Last Jedi.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi is currently screening in cinemas.
