Paul Feig Isn’t Interested In “Taking Anything” Away From GOTG Director James Gunn

Marvel might be in need of a new director for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 after Disney decided to fire James Gunn back in July, but Paul Feig doesn't think he'd be interested in taking the reigns over the film.

Gunn, the director of the first two Guardians of the Galaxy movies, was removed from the project after an alt-right netizen decided to create a smear campaign against the filmmaker. Offensive and inappropriate tweets the filmmaker made and apologized for more than a decade ago were forced back to the surface, and to avoid the backlash, the Mickey Mouse House decided to part ways with Gunn.

With Disney refusing to change its stance on its decision to fire Gunn, fans have started pitching names to replace Gunn on Guardians of the Galaxy 3, however, it looks like Feig doesn't want to be part of the circus.

Speaking in an interview with host Josh Horowitz on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, the Bridesmaids and Ghostbusters director admitted that he had no intention to take over and helm Marvel's cosmic space romp.

"I would never take anything away from another filmmaker. You can think whatever, moralize about what James wrote. I don't make those kind of jokes, I don't like those kind of jokes. But still, that's James' franchise."

Though some fans feel like Disney was in the right for firing Gunn, a lot of fans, celebrities, and filmmakers have taken the directors side, reasoning that Gunn had long since apologized for those tweets and that he had changed so much since then.

Feig doesn't support the tweets that Gunn wrote, but he understands that it was made in the past and that most of all, Guardians of the Galaxy is Gunn's franchise.

What do you think? Do you agree with Paul Feig? Who would you like to see replace James Gunn?
