One Million Moms Campaign for Families to Boycott Marvel’s The Eternals

Marvel might be making strides in terms of diversity and representation by planning to feature the first openly gay superhero in Phase 4's The Eternals, but it seems like there are some that are against the step towards progress and inclusion.

According to a report by Metro Weekly, the conservative activist group One Million Moms is rallying, asking families with children to boycott seeing The Eternals because the film promises to feature a same-sex kiss. The group believes that this same-sex kiss in the upcoming comic book movie is an example of the entertainment industry attempting "to indoctrinate families with the LGBTQ agenda."

Fighting against the film, the organization has created a petition asking families to either boycott the movie or at least to ban their children from seeing the comic book film.

"Marvel has decided to be politically correct instead of providing family-friendly programming. Marvel should stick to entertaining, not pushing an agenda," the petition description reads. "Please share this with your friends and family to make sure they are aware of the gay superhero character in The Eternals and not blindsided by it. As moms, we all want to know when Marvel is attempting to desensitize our family by normalizing the LGBTQ lifestyle."

It might surprise some, but the petition has already gathered more than 14,000 signatures around the globe. It looks like a lot of conservative families share the same belief as One Million Moms.

While it's the right of One Million Moms and all other conservative groups to believe in whatever they want to, it's a shame that conservative families are going to miss out on the upcoming comic book movie.

The Eternals is set for release on November 6, 2020.
