Star Wars’ Joonas Suotamo Did NOT Name His Daughter After Chewbacca

It might sound odd, but Star Wars Chewbacca actor Joonas Suotamo hasn't really named his daughter after the Wookie that he acts out as in the Star Wars franchise.

Taking to social media, Suotamo just recently shared a picture of his newly born baby daughter. Together with the picture, the actor gushed over his daughter's birth, calling the newborn Baby Baca. The nickname has led followers to assume that the Star Wars actor named his child after Chewie – something which fans have been wondering about online.

"We have some exciting news: we were blessed to welcome the newest member of our family! Our little princess (or senator, or general, or whatever she wants to be!) was born this week and is doing great. We want to thank the personnel at HUH Women's Hospital, they were extraordinary and we are lucky to have been in their world-class care during our stay," Suotamo wrote on the post that he shared on Twitter, "We also want to thank Grandma Sonja for taking care of Aatos during the birth, he is gonna have to get used to there being two little ones in the house now. So far he is doing well with it, and we expect him to grow up to be a great big brother. Welcome to the world Princess Bacca!"

While we don't necessarily blame Star Wars fans for mistaking the child as Princess Bacca, Suotamo has taken to social media to make it abundantly clear that his daughter has yet to be named. Responding to fans' posts about Baby Bacca, Suotamo couldn't help but clear up the air and reiterate that his child has yet to be named.

Admittedly, Baby Chewie would be a wonderful nickname for a child. It would be an even greater nickname for a dog or for a cat.

Well, whatever the name goes to, we'd like to congratulate Suotamo on the new addition to his family.

Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker is making its way to Digital HD on March 17, 2020. The film is set to release on DVD, Blu-Ray, and 4K Ultra HD on March 31, 2020.
