New Study Says Daredevil Was Actually Netflix’s Fourth Most Popular Series

Marvel fans might have pinned Netflix's decision to cancel Daredevil because of poor viewership, but according to recent analytics, the Marvel TV series was actually a pretty big performer for the streaming service company.

According to Deadline, the results of an independent study conducted by Parrot Analytics showed that by the end of last week before the series' cancellation, Daredevil actually was the fourth most sought-after series on Netflix. While Parrot couldn't measure actual viewings, the company measured the popularity of Netflix's various offerings through its number of likes, and it turns out that Daredevil ended up with one of the highest numbers.

The Marvel Netflix series received close to 30 million positive responses during Parrot's study which came over the course of one week alone, putting the film just behind Narcos, the new Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, and the popular horror adventure series, Stranger Things.

This might add to the surprise and heartache of fans. While likes might not necessarily mean viewer ratings, there had been so many great reviews for the third season of Daredevil with fans and critics praising the show's most recent batch of episodes. Many, including series showrunner Erik Oleson, were confident that Netflix would greenlight the fourth season of the series.

Unfortunately, a few days after fans heard that Olsen went over to Netflix to pitch his plans for the next bundle of episodes, news came out that Daredevil had been put on the chopping board. The series is the third Marvel Netflix series to be axed after Netflix decided to cancel Iron Fist and Luke Cage. Now all that's left is Jessica Jones and The Punisher. We wonder how long those will last.

Hopefully, Daredevil manages to find a new home in Disney's upcoming streaming site next year.
