New Black Widow Image Shows Natasha Romanoff on Mission With Yelena Belova

Marvel is entering the fourth phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and the film bringing us into the newest chapter of the franchise is the highly anticipated comic book movie, Black Widow. The film serves as Scarlet Johansson's very first standalone movie as Natasha Romanoff, and the prequel is set to feature the family that kept the super-spy company before she decided to join the Avengers.

Now, as the film slowly approaches its release, Marvel offers fans a brand new image showing Natasha together with her sister, Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh). The image comes from the USA Today's list of movies that fans can't wait to see in 2020, and in it, we get to see Black Widow and Yelena together in action sequence.

We're really excited to learn more about Black Widow in the new movie. Though the superspy has always been an important part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, we've barely had any time to properly focus on the character's checkered past.

"Within the Marvel universe, we're always a little bit on the outside of her," director Cate Shortland says in a short interview with the entertainment news outlet. "What I was really passionate about was why don't we make her as human as we can because that's what sets her apart. She is a human being without a specific set of powers. How do we explore her vulnerability (and) her shame? That's what I really wanted: a character that wasn't just a superhero."

It's going to be interesting seeing Natasha working with her original "family" in the film. We really can't wait to see more of Black Widow, especially after the sacrifice she made in Avengers: Endgame.

Black Widow is set to premiere on May 1, 2020.
