It looks like Matt Reeve's The Batman production is coming along pretty nicely.

A new member has been added to The Batman movie's cast list today with Matt Reeves confirming that Westworld star Jeffrey Wright has been cast to play the movie's version of Commissioner James Gordon.

It might not seem like much, however, this post confirms rumors that have been circulating online for nearly a month's time now. Before the announcement, there have been multiple reports saying that Reeves was considering Wright for The Batman. The actor is mostly known for his role as the character Bernard Lowe in the critically-acclaimed HBO series, Westworld. Wright's also made appearances in films like The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 and 2, Casino Royale, and Quantum of Solace.

The last time that Commissioner Gordon appeared on the big screen was in the DC Extended Universe's Justice League. The commissioner had been played by J.K. Simmons in the movie.

Now, it looks like Wright is going to take over the role in The Batman. The casting news comes after Warner Brothers revealed that Zoe Kravitz had been cast as the movie's Catwoman. Paul Dano has also been recently cast as The Riddler in the upcoming movie.

Starring Robert Pattinson, The Batman is set for release on June 25, 2021.
