Marvel’s Ant-Man 3 Production Slated to Begin Next Year

It looks like Marvel is planning to begin work on its third Ant-Man movie soon.

According to a report by Murphy's Multiverse, Ant-Man 3 is set to begin production sometime in June 2021.

This is great news for fans of Paul Rudd's size-shifting Scott Lang. There was a lot of concern when the sequel to Ant-Man and the Wasp failed to appear in Marvel's release schedule for Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. There was even speculation that Marvel would postpone producing a follow-up to the movie.

Luckily, word came out last year that Ant-Man and the Wasp director Payton Reed would be coming back to direct the threequel, making him the first Marvel director to take on all three installments of a Marvel trilogy.

While fans are eager to hear more about the project, Murphy's Multiverse says that production has been delayed to June because of the COVID-19 pandemic. This shouldn't really come as a surprise. COVID-19 has had a major impact on the entertainment industry. Not only has it shut down cinemas and delayed the release of major blockbusters like Mulan, Black Widow, and Wonder Woman 1984, but it has also postponed the production of major television and film projects.

Marvel must be setting aside the production of the third Ant-Man movie so that it can focus on the delayed production of other films like Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.

Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe begins when Black Widow premieres on November 6, 2020.
