Marvel to Reportedly Hire Carol Danvers Herself as Co-Director of Captain Marvel 2

Last month, word came out that Marvel was planning on releasing another Captain Marvel movie for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The announcement came as a surprise to the Marvel fanbase – no one was really expecting another Captain Marvel movie after Brie Larson's first comic book movie as Carol Danvers.

Now, Marvel is preparing Larson's very next comic book movie as the strongest member of the Avengers and according to a report by Showbiz Cheat Sheet, there are rumors going around saying that Marvel wants the actress to have an even more prominent role in the upcoming Captain Marvel movie.

Before the film was announced, there were quite a number of reports about the Captain Marvel sequel. Fans began to wonder whether or not Marvel might have Carol Danvers pass on the Captain Marvel's role to Maria Rambeau or another superhero of color.

Now according to Cheat Sheet, inside sources at Marvel say that Larson could play a much, much larger role as Carol Danvers in Captain Marvel 2. Some of these sources even say that the studio wants the actress to serve as a co-director on the Captain Marvel sequel before moving on to direct Marvel movies of her own.

While this might sound a bit of a surprise to fans, Larson has had some experience directing before. In 2017, the actress directed a film called Unicorn Store which featured her together with her Avengers: Endgame co-star Samuel L. Jackson.

Marvel might want to make use of this skill.

Of course, as with any rumor, we suggest that Marvel fans take this report with a large grain of salt. We can't really be sure of anything until we get confirmation from Marvel itself.

Phase 4 of the MCU begins when Black Widow premieres on May 1, 2020.
