Marvel Teases Brand New Direction For Captain Marvel

Marvel Comics' latest Captain Marvel run might be enjoying a spike in comic book sales, however, it seems like the sudden rise in popularity may have less to do with Carol Danvers' popularity but with a brand new direction for the character.

According to a report by Cosmic Book News, Marvel's latest Captain Marvel series is currently enjoying a rise in sales because of the changes that the publication is implementing on the character. Not only has Marvel Comics teased a completely new direction for Carol Danvers, but the comic book publication has also teased the death and the replacement of the superheroine.

Marvel Comics recently released its solicitations for September 2019, and in the solicit for issue #10 of Captain Marvel, the publication teases the death of Carol Danvers as well as the introduction of her replacement, Star.

The synopsis for Captain Marvel #10 reads:

"It's official: New hero STAR is in and CAPTAIN MARVEL is out! As Carol struggles to deal with her changing role and unravel the mystery of what is happening to her powers, a risky new alliance she's forged may turn out to be even more dangerous than she expected. Will Carol be willing to make the ultimate sacrifice to save a world that has turned on her?"

The publication has also released the solicitations for Captain Marvel #11 and Captain #12. The descriptions for the new issues tease Carol losing her powers and entering the fight for life that "must destroy her."
