Marvel Taps John Wick Writer For Falcon And Winter Soldier Series

It looks like Marvel is gearing up to work on its different mini-series for Disney's upcoming streaming site, Disney+. The studio has been slowly gearing up to begin production for its shows, more specifically, Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

According to a new report by The Wrap, Marvel has just tapped John Wick franchise writer Derek Kolstad for its new mini series featuring the adventures of fan-favorite Marvel heroes Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) and Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan).

Directed by Kari Skogland, the series will have Stan and Mackie reprise their Marvel roles as the titular characters of the show while word has it that Emily Van Camp is also set to return as the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Sharon Carter. Daniel Bruhl is also rumored to reprise his role as Helmut Zemo from Captain America: Civil War.

While fans aren't quite sure what to expect from Falcon and the Winter Soldier, everyone's eager to see whether the series will explore the aftermath of Steve Roger's (Chris Evans) decision to pass on the Captain America shield to Sam Wilson. During the final scene for Avengers: Endgame, fans get to see Steve going back to the past to return the Infinity Stones in the places that they belong to. But instead of coming back, Steve decides to stay and live out the rest of his life with Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell).

When Steve returns to the present timeline, he's already an old man. Steve then decides to pass on the Captain America role to his best friend, Sam Wilson.

Though we're not sure whether Falcon will start taking the Captain America name in Falcon and the Winter Soldier, we're hoping we see the transition in the series.

Marvel's latest release, Spider-Man: Far From Home, is currently screening in cinemas.
