Marvel Studios Co-President On How To Appeal To The Casual And Die-Hard Fan

There's a reason why the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been such a great success and now on its tenth anniversary, Marvel explains some of its secrets in its new book, Marvel Studios: The First Ten Years.

With so many interesting tidbits about Marvel and the MCU, Marvel Studios: The First Ten Years hardcover edition (via ComicBook.com) explains to fans one of the main reasons why the Marvel film franchise has been such a success – its ability to cater to all kinds of fans.

Appealing to the die-hard Marvel movie fans, the more meticulous movie fans, and the casual film viewer, Marvel Studios has somehow managed to find a balance to give everyone a little bit of what they look for in a comic book film.

According to Marvel Studios Co-President Luis D'Esposito, everything is planned out when t comes to making the studio's films appeal to a wider range of audiences without making anyone feel "like you're taking your SAT tests."

One example that D'Esposito uses in the book is the Quantum Realm, an alternate dimension that was first introduced to casual moviegoers in Ant-Man. Those who've seen the film know that the Quantum Realm is the place "where Hank Pym was looking for his wife," a simple but loaded image that allows the casual fan to understand that the dimension is a "place where time is different."

Sure, serious fans might know what the Quantum Realm actually is just by mentioning the name itself, but other fans might need a little bit more simplicity and a little bit more guidance. Luckily, Marvel has perfected at the art of appealing to all kinds of fans, helping make the MCU the success that it is today.

Marvel's next film, Avengers 4, hits cinemas May 3, 2019.
