Marvel Reportedly Planning on Replacing Wasp with Woman of Color

Marvel has been planning to refresh its roster of heroes as it enters Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The Studio has already planned replacements for the original six Avengers – Captain America (Chris Evans) passed on his shield to Falcon (Anthony Mackie) in Avengers: Endgame, Natasha Romanoff is passing on the baton to Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh) in the upcoming Black Widow movie, Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) is going to see his cousin Jennifer Walters turn into She-Hulk in the She-Hulk series, and Clint Barton (Jeremy Renner)is set to pass on his role as Hawkeye to Kate Bishop in his upcoming Disney+ series.

Interestingly enough, it seems like the original six aren't the only Marvel heroes making their way out of the MCU.

According to a report by We Got This Covered, Marvel is reportedly hoping to phase Wasp star Evangeline Lilly out of the franchise. Lilly just recently made a few controversial comments about the coronavirus pandemic, and according to the entertainment news outlet, this has resulted in a reduced role in Ant-Man 3.

While Marvel has yet to confirm this report, it doesn't seem like a surprise to hear that Wasp would be out after the third Ant-Man movie. After all, Marvel would probably want to focus on newer heroes in Phase 5 of the MCU.

What's surprising is that Marvel is allegedly planning to have a woman of color take Lilly's place in the MCU. This means that Marvel wants Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) to stay longer in the MCU.

Of course, as with any rumor, we advise fans to take this report with a large grain of salt. Marvel has yet to announce its plans for Ant-Man and his partner. We'll have to wait and see whether the report has any sort of truth to it.

Phase 4 of the MCU begins when Black Widow premieres on November 6, 2020.
