Marvel Reportedly Interested in Introducing Third Thor

It looks like Marvel may have plans to introduce another version of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Asgardian God of Thunder after bringing in Jane Foster's (Natalie Portman) Mighty Thor in Thor: Love and Thunder.

According to a report by We Got This Covered, sources close to Marvel say that the studio is considering bringing in the third iteration of Thor that would help tie in together the debut of Galactus. Rumor has it that Marvel wants a version of Thor from a recent comic book series where Galactus recruits Thor to serve him as one of his Heralds.

It's an interesting report, to say the least, though it's hard to imagine Thor serving under Galactus. Perhaps the studio is thinking of introducing this version of Thor in an alternate timeline – there's a lot of room for that in Marvel's upcoming dimension-hopping movie, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

However, if Marvel does introduce the third iteration of Thor, one has to wonder whether the studio would cast another star to take on the role, or whether Chris Hemsworth would take on the part.

Of course, as with all rumors, we advise fans to take the report with a grain of salt. As far as we know, Marvel is only interested in bringing Mighty Thor into the MCU. Juggling the third one may be too much for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Hemsworth's already pretty great as the Asgardian God of Thunder, why have another?

Phase 4 of the MCU begins when Black Widow premieres on November 6, 2020.
