Marvel Reportedly in Talks with Michael Bay to Develop Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool Pitch

Disney may have long since acquired the rights to the X-Men, Fantastic Four, and Deadpool ever since the House of Mouse purchased 21st Century Fox, however, Marvel has yet to announce its plans to integrate Fox's mutant heroes into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

While Marvel is keeping a tight lip on its plans for the X-Men, the Fantastic Four, and Deadpool, there have been very many reports about the studio's supposed projects involving the Marvel mutants. One of the most recent reports says that Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds has already pitched a new Merc with a Mouth movie and that Transformers director Michael Bay is in talks to direct the project.

According to a new post by Marvel and Disney insider Roger Wardell, Fox's Merc with a Mouth, Ryan Reynolds, has already discussed a Deadpool movie with Marvel. In fact, the actor made the pitch in 2019.

"Deadpool kills Fox's Marvel Universe was one of the ideas pitched by Reynolds back in 2019. Michael Bay in talks to direct the movie," Wardell writes in his post.

Based on the tweet, Reynold's supposed pitch hopes to tackle Disney's purchase of 20th Century Fox by using a comic book movie as a euphemism. We're not entirely sure whether or not the House of Mouse might be keen on the idea, but it seems like Marvel's already in talks with Michael Bay for the movie.

Of course, as with any rumor, we advise fans to take this new report with a grain of salt. Wardell may have given accurate reports before, but we can't immediately trust every rumor that comes our way.

Phase 4 of the MCU begins when Black Widow premieres on November 6, 2020.
