Marvel President Kevin Feige Doesn’t Believe in Star Wars Fatigue

Disney's all been about Star Wars fatigue ever since Solo: A Star Wars Story underperformed at the box office and ever since critically-acclaimed Star Wars: The Last Jedi became one of the most divisive entries in the Star Wars franchise. However, despite Disney CEO Bob Iger's claims that there's been too much Star Wars movies in the market place way too fast for the comfort of audiences, Marvel President Kevin Feige believes that the franchise doesn't really need a break.

Speaking in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter's Awards Chatter Podcast, Feige responded to Iger's insistence that the Star Wars franchise needs to slow down. According to the Marvel Producer, the franchise is doing just fine.

"Well they've made about five movies in about five years and it's made over five billion dollars, so I think they're doing just fine with Star Wars," he told the podcast,m "And Rise of Skywalker looks incredible to me."

Right now there's a lot of uncertainty about the future of the franchise. Not only does Disney plan to force Star Wars to go on a hiatus after Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker's premiere next month, but there have been a lot of shake-ups in the franchise as well.

Last month, Star Wars fans were shocked to learn that Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss were departing from their highly-anticipated Star Wars trilogy so that they could focus on their deal with Netflix.

Fortunately, while the future of Star Wars' cinematic universe isn't so clear, Disney has a lot planned for the franchise on Disney+. Not only does Lucasfilm have Jon Favreau's Star Wars: The Mandalorian, but the studio is also working on a Rogue One spinoff series featuring Captain Cassian Andor (Diego Luna) and an Obi-Wan Kenobi series featuring the return of Ewan McGregor.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is set to premiere on December 20, 2019.
