Marvel Might Have to Recast All of The Defenders After All

Marvel fans might be hoping that Marvel revives Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, The Punisher, and The Defenders now that all of the series contractual obligations with Netflix have come to an end, however, word has it Marvel may have to recast all of the Defenders.

According to a report by We Got This Covered, sources say that Marvel may not be able to bring Charlie Cox, Kyrsten Ritter, Mike Colter, Finn Jones, and Jon Bernthal the Marvel Cinematic Universe. As much as Marvel may or may not want to keep some of the actors of its various Marvel Netflix series, the studio may be forced to recast all of the Defenders.

Marvel just recently reacquired the rights to the characters, however, it seems like the contracts of the Defenders actors with Netflix have still yet to expire. Knowing this, Marvel can't have Cox, Ritter, Colter, Jones, or Bernthal appear in any Marvel project.

Unfortunately for Marvel fans, this means that rumors saying that Cox might appear as Matt Murdock in Spider-Man 3 are untrue. The same goes for the rumors saying that Jessica Jones might appear in Captain Marvel 2.

Of course, Marvel could wait for the actors' contracts with Netflix to expire so that they can have the original Defenders in the MCU. However, if the studio has a timeline in mind, then it seems like they'll have to recast the roles.

That would be such a shame considering how fans have been patiently hoping to see the Defenders find their way into the MCU.
