Marvel May Have Already Introduced First Mutant in Janet Van Dyne

Now that Disney's completed acquiring the film and television assets of 21st Century Fox, Marvel fans are looking forward to the introduction of the X-Men, Fantastic Four, and Deadpool into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

However, while fans continue to wait for the X-Men to make their way into the Marvel film franchise, a new theory suggests that Marvel's first mutant may have already appeared in the MCU. According to a post on Reddit, Marvel fans may have missed the arrival of Marvel's first mutant in Ant-Man and the Wasp.

Who's the mutant in question? Janet Van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer).

Marvel fans may know Janet as the former Wasp, however, a scene in Ant-Man and the Wasp seems to reveal how Janet had unknowingly become a mutate while lost in the quantum realm. In the film, Janet explains to Hank how exactly she had survived the effects of being stuck in the quantum realm.

According to Janet "adaption was part of it, but it's more...evolution."

Not only does the former Wasp gain telepathy which she uses to connect to Scott Lang (Paul Rudd), but she also has the power of healing, something which she uses to heal Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen).

Of course, being a mutate is entirely different from having the x-gene of the X-men, however, Janet can pave the way for the introduction of the Fantastic Four.

What do you think? Can Janet Van Dyne be considered a mutant? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section below.
