Marvel Fans Outraged By Black Panther’s Golden Globes Snub

Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse might have won big awards at this year's Golden Globes, but Marvel fan-favorite Black Panther didn't even win a single award from the three nominations it earned from the Golden Globes.

Chadwick Boseman's very first standalone film as the King of Wakanda was nominated for Best Motion Picture – Drama, Best Original Score, and Best Original Song. However, the groundbreaking Marvel comic book movie didn't win a single award at the Golden Globes. The fanbase has been taking to social media to express their outrage, saying that they barely understand the reason why Black Panther was snubbed.

Check out some of the tweets down here:

Black Panther did so much for the comic book movie genre when it premiered last year. Not only was the film the very first standalone movie for T'Challa, but it was also Marvel's first-all black installment. The film's success proved to the Hollywood industry that diversity and representation were important values to moviegoers.

Disney's been betting on Black Panther for the awards season, listing the film for multiple categories at the Oscars in its For Your Consideration website. Marvel's been pushing Black Panther really hard – much harder than the first installment in Joe and Anthony Russo's two-part Avengers movie, Avengers: Infinity War.

Despite the Golden Globes snub, fans are hoping that Black Panther wins big at the Oscars. The Academy doesn't usually give out major awards to blockbuster comic book movies, but everyone's hoping that Black Panther might change that this year.
