Marvel Fans Celebrate Disney/Fox Merger While Others Express Major Concerns

Disney’s acquisition of 21st Century Fox and the studio’s film and television assets has finally come to a close. While Marvel fans celebrate the merger between the two companies, others aren’t quite sure what to feel over the deal.

Taking to social media, Disney and Fox fans have been expressing their thoughts regarding the companies’ merger.  Some are excited for various reasons. Marvel fans welcome the acquisition knowing that the deal brings with it the arrival of the X-Men, Fantastic Four, and all of Fox’s other mutants, into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Others are hoping for strange mash-ups like Stewie fighting Rocket Raccoon.

On the other side of the fence, fans are a bit anxious about the entire affair, worrying that Disney’s ballooning in size. Posting on Twitter, netizens have been sharing memes about the acquisition, commenting on how the Mickey Mouse House is just trying to own everything. They’ve also been expressing their concern, thinking that the company might ruin the entertainment industry.

Yesterday Disney released a statement in its website announcing the completion of its Fox acquisition. In the post, the Walt Disney Company Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Bob Iger calls the merger a major historic moment for the studio.

"This is an extraordinary and historic moment for us -- one that will create significant long-term value for our company and our shareholders," Iger said in the statement. "Combining Disney's and 21st Century Fox's wealth of creative content and proven talent creates the preeminent global entertainment company, well positioned to lead in an incredibly dynamic and transformative era.”
