Lucasfilm President Admits She Doesn’t Know What’s Next For Star Wars

Lucasfilm might have had a clear path after Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, however, ever since Game of Thrones creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss decided to exit their Star Wars trilogy to focus on their deal with Netflix, the future of the Star Wars franchise has become murky again.

Speaking in an interview with Rolling Stone to help promote the sequel trilogy's third and final entry, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy admits that the studio doesn't quite know what the future has in store for Star Wars ether.

When asked by the entertainment news site whether or not Lucasfilm's already decided what's next for the franchise, Kennedy gives a simple "no."

"We've got various things we're looking at and various ways in which we can begin or not. As you can imagine. You know, do you go back? Do you go forward? All those questions are being asked. Do we stay in this galaxy? Do we go to another? The universe is never-ending. [Laughs.] The good news and the bad news. They have endless possibilities. It's liberating, it's exciting, and it creates a lot of pressure and anxiety as well," the Lucasfilm President further explains.

While the future seems rather uncertain right now, Star Wars still has the trilogy by Star Wars: The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson. According to previous reports, this new set of Star Wars movies is set to cover aspects of the galaxy far, far away that has never been really explored.

Though some of The Last Jedi's haters have been hoping that Lucasfilm would reveal that Johnson's trilogy has been canceled, the director has just recently confirmed that he's still in talks with the studio about his new project.
