Lord of the Rings TV Series Still Open To Peter Jackson Joining The Project

Peter Jackson might have previously said that he wouldn't be involved in Amazon Studios upcoming Lord of the Rings TV series but Amazon executives aren't exactly ruling out The Lord of the Rings movie director's participation in the show just yet.

Amazon Studios Television President Jennifer Salke just recently spoke in an interview with Slash Film, and during their discussion regarding the upcoming Lord of the Rings TV series, the executive was asked whether or not Jackson would jump in on the project. Based on Salke's comments, it looks like the studio is still open to having Jackson any time he says that he's willing to help out on the new show.

"We don't have any news on Peter Jackson," Salke told the publication. "There hasn't been any negativity around it. We just don't have any news on that yet and what his involvement may be."

"He is aware of what's happening," Albert Cheng, the co-head of Amazon Studios TV said during the interview.

For the uninitiated, Peter Jackson went and directed six films for The Lord of the Rings franchise. Not only did the filmmaker direct The Lord of the Rings trilogy itself, but he also helmed the prequel trilogy, The Hobbit. Jackson's work on the original Lord of the Rings trilogy was well-received by fans and critics alike. Having Jackson on board the Lord of the Rings TV series would definitely add to the show's credibility.

Right now there isn't any release date for the Lord of the Rings TV series, but we'll update everyone as soon as we get word.
